Authorities seek public assistance as search continue for 2 ATV drivers following Danbury accident on South Street

DANBURY, CT — Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying two individuals who fled the scene of an ATV crash that left one person critically injured Wednesday afternoon on South Street.

According to a statement from the Danbury Police Department, officers responded to the area around 3 p.m. and found a severely injured ATV rider lying on the sidewalk near a heavily damaged vehicle. The individual, who has not yet been publicly identified, was transported to Danbury Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators believe two other ATV operators were involved in the incident. Both reportedly fled the scene before police arrived.

South Street remained closed for several hours as the Danbury Police Accident Investigation Team combed the area for evidence.

Police are now urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information about the individuals involved to come forward. Witnesses are asked to contact Sgt. Wakeman or Officer Wolen at 203-797-2157.

Authorities stress that any assistance from the community could be vital in identifying those responsible and piecing together the full circumstances of the crash.
