Morgan County Charter Schools have announced the heartbreaking loss of two students, Avett Jackson and Bennett Rabern, following an ATV accident over the holiday weekend. The tragedy also reportedly left another child seriously injured.
The accident occurred during the holiday weekend, prompting Morgan County Charter Schools to release a statement mourning the loss.
“The Morgan County Charter Schools community is grieving the loss of two exceptional young men due to a tragic accident over the holiday weekend,” the statement read. “There are no words to ease the sorrow and sadness we feel at this time.”
The school system extended its thoughts and prayers to the families and friends of the boys, while also providing additional support and resources to help the community cope. Counselors have been made available at Morgan County Middle School to assist students, staff, families, and the broader community.
Morgan County Basketball paid tribute to one of its star players, #3 Avett Jackson, through a heartfelt social media post.
“Today, we mourn the loss of one of our own, Avett Jackson. Please join us in praying for the Jackson family, our players, coaches, and the community,” the post read, calling for peace and comfort for the families of both boys.
Jackson was also a junior angler for the Morgan County High School fishing team, which shared a similar message of condolence.
