LUTHERVILLE, MD — The Lutherville Lab Elementary School community is grieving a profound and heartbreaking loss following a tragic car accident that claimed the lives of two of its cherished students. On April 5, 2025, third graders Bailee Brooks and Serenity Gross were tragically killed in the crash, sending waves of shock and sorrow throughout the school and surrounding community.
Bailee and Serenity were not just students — they were radiant spirits who touched the lives of everyone around them. Teachers, classmates, and staff describe them as bright, kind-hearted, and full of joy. Whether it was in the classroom, on the playground, or during school events, Bailee and Serenity exuded warmth and enthusiasm that brought happiness to their peers and inspiration to their educators.
Principal Lauren Whitaker released a heartfelt statement, saying, “We are devastated by the loss of Bailee and Serenity. They were shining lights in our school—always smiling, always kind. Our hearts are broken for their families, their teachers, and all of our students who are struggling to understand this tragedy. We will do everything we can to support one another in the days ahead.”
