Bob Palmer, of Bob Palmer Keene, New Hampshire, has passed away. He succeeded Mike Duffy as CEO of C&S Wholesale Grocers in 2020, returning to the role after resigning over a year ago.

Before his retirement in September 2019, Palmer was a seasoned executive with over thirty years of experience at C&S. He had served as Executive Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer. Palmer started with C&S in February 1986 as head buyer and quickly advanced through the ranks, becoming Senior Vice President of Nonperishable Procurement in 1996 after serving as Director of Procurement in 1995. In 2015, he was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer.

Before joining C&S, Palmer worked for Riverside Markets, a branch of Penn Traffic Co. in DuBois, Pennsylvania, for four years. He also managed retail operations for the Albertsons Southco Division in Alabama and Florida. In 2002, the Northeast Wholesale Food Distributors Association recognized his significant contributions to the industry by naming him Director Emeritus.

Palmer’s return to C&S brings invaluable leadership at a crucial time. Under his guidance, the company aims to strengthen its position as a leading distributor of wholesale groceries, serving communities and businesses nationwide.

A highly regarded professional in the food industry, Palmer was known for his expertise in retail, pricing strategy, operations, negotiations, and team building. He held a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services from Franklin Pierce University.
