LOGAN, UT – A Logan man is in police custody following a violent domestic dispute Thursday afternoon that left a young woman seriously injured. According to investigators, the confrontation resulted in the victim being stabbed in the back, and the alleged suspect has now been booked on multiple felony charges.

Officers responded to an apartment in Logan after receiving reports of a disturbance involving 20-year-old Jay Dalton Jones and a woman identified by family members as Caris. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered the victim suffering from a stab wound to her back, along with bruising to her face. She was immediately transported to Logan Regional Hospital, where she remains in serious condition.
Jones initially attempted to claim the stabbing was accidental, telling officers that the injury occurred while the pair were “roughhousing” with a dog. However, witnesses contradicted that account, telling police they heard the woman screaming phrases such as “get off me” and “help me” before fleeing the apartment to escape the attack.
Investigators recovered a bloodied knife believed to be the weapon used in the assault.
Jay Dalton Jones was arrested and booked without bail on several serious felony charges, including attempted aggravated murder, aggravated kidnapping, and assault with substantial bodily injury. The case remains under investigation as authorities continue gathering witness statements and evidence to determine the full sequence of events that led to the violent attack.
Loved ones have launched a verified GoFundMe page to help support Caris with mounting medical expenses, trauma recovery, and relocation costs as she begins the long process of healing.
