Walker County, GA — A tragic multi-vehicle crash on Highway 27 near Center Point Road on Tuesday afternoon has claimed the lives of two drivers, including 17-year-old Brennon Beavers, a beloved student-athlete at Lafayette High School.
Authorities confirmed that the collision occurred when the driver of a Toyota Tacoma veered into the left northbound lane of the highway and collided head-on with a Jeep Renegade, causing the Tacoma to overturn. A third vehicle, a Nissan Rogue, attempted to avoid the crash but struck the rear driver’s side of the Tacoma. Both the drivers of the Tacoma and the Renegade were pronounced dead at the scene.
One passenger in the Renegade suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a local hospital via Life Force helicopter. The crash remains under investigation by local authorities.
Beavers, a prominent member of the Lafayette High School football team, was remembered by coaches and classmates not only for his athletic talent but also for his leadership and heart.
“Brennon was more than just a football player—he was a leader, a brother, and the heart of our locker room,” read a heartfelt post on the Lafayette Rambler Football Facebook page. “We will honor his life, his number, and the impact he made on our team every step of the way this season.”
The devastating news has rocked the Lafayette school community, where grief counselors and support staff have been made available to students and faculty in the wake of the tragedy. Brennon’s sudden passing has left a deep void among friends, teammates, and teachers who described him as compassionate, driven, and always ready with a smile.
Messages of support and condolence have poured in on social media, with many highlighting the profound influence Brennon had on those around him, both on and off the field.
As the investigation into the crash continues, the community remains united in mourning the loss of a young life filled with promise, and in offering prayers for all families impacted by this heartbreaking incident.
Further updates, including memorial service arrangements for Brennon Beavers, are expected to be shared by the family and school in the coming days.
