54-year-old Brett Schmer, a science teacher who worked for Forest Hills High School committed suicide by jumping out of his 5th floor apartment in the vicinity of 93-40 Queens blvd across Retro fitness gym at about 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2024.
Mr. Schmer was an amazing teacher who was a very nice guy, who was well liked and loved by everyone, always helping his students with a smile.
The shocking news about the passing of the beloved teacher came as a shock to the students and the school faculty since he was always happy, joyful and never showed any signs of depression.
The news of Brett’s passing has brought immense grief to those who knew him. Support systems are being put in place for students and staff at Forest Hills High School to cope with this tragedy.
