A serious traffic incident involving a truck and a cyclist caused major disruptions to the morning commute in Bulahdelah on Tuesday, forcing the temporary closure of sections of the Pacific Highway during peak travel hours.

The collision occurred at the intersection of the Pacific Highway and Bombah Point Road and was first reported at approximately 6:30 a.m. Emergency services were quickly dispatched to the scene, prompting a significant response from New South Wales Police, NSW Ambulance paramedics, and traffic management crews.
Upon arrival, first responders secured the area and provided medical assistance to those involved, while traffic authorities worked to manage the growing congestion on the busy highway. Due to the severity of the incident and the need to ensure the safety of emergency personnel, traffic was halted in both northbound and southbound lanes of the Pacific Highway.
The full closure led to extensive delays for commuters, freight operators, and long-distance motorists traveling through the Bulahdelah area. Drivers were urged to exercise caution and follow detour instructions put in place by local authorities as crews carried out emergency operations and cleared debris from the roadway.
By 7:03 a.m., traffic authorities were able to reopen the northbound lanes, allowing vehicles to move through and easing some of the congestion for motorists heading north. However, the southbound lanes near Bombah Point Road remained closed for a longer period as police continued their investigation and cleanup efforts.
Motorists traveling south were advised to use Bulahdelah Way as an alternative route until the Pacific Highway could be fully reopened. Traffic delays persisted throughout the surrounding area as drivers adjusted to the detours.
Paramedics remained on scene to provide immediate care, and injured individuals were transported to nearby medical facilities for further treatment. Officials have not released details regarding the number of people injured or the severity of their conditions.
Police stated that their primary focus remains on the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is ongoing, and authorities have asked drivers to remain patient and alert while traveling through the area.
