ST. PETERS, MO – The community of St. Peters is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 4-year-old Calvin Spurlock, who was killed in a motorcycle accident Sunday evening near Fort Zumwalt South High School.

Calvin’s grandmother, Janet Bond, described her grandson as a funny, outgoing child who adored Spider-Man and brought immense joy to their family. “He was the light of our lives,” she said, struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.

The Crash

According to St. Peters Police, emergency responders received multiple 911 calls around 5 p.m. regarding a motorcycle crash at Mexico Road and Beallau Creek. Investigators say a motorcycle carrying a man and a child veered off westbound Mexico Road, collided with a utility pole, and threw both riders from the bike.

Calvin was rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The motorcyclist, identified by family members as Calvin’s mother’s boyfriend, sustained critical but non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

Community Shock and Sorrow

Neighbors and parents in the area expressed their deep sadness.

“I have two kids, and I just can’t imagine being in their position. It’s so sad,” said local resident Alex Shaw.

Another concerned parent, who lives near the crash site, shared their heartbreak: “I have a 4-year-old, so my heart goes out to them.”

Shaw also pointed out the traffic conditions at the intersection where the crash occurred, noting: “It’s really busy out here every day. It’s really hectic.”

Investigation Ongoing

Authorities confirmed that no other vehicles were involved in the accident. Both Calvin and the motorcyclist were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

Meanwhile, Calvin’s grief-stricken family continues to process the devastating loss, with his grandmother too overwhelmed to speak on camera.

As the investigation unfolds, the community is rallying around Calvin’s family, offering support during this unimaginable tragedy.
