Cameron Ward Utah Obituary: West Valley Arts mourn the loss of talented actor Cameron Ward

It is with deep sadness that West Valley Arts acknowledges the passing of Cameron Ward, a talented actor and dear friend. Cameron brought warmth, passion, and an unforgettable presence to every role he played and so much kindness to the lives of those who knew him. He will be profoundly missed. Our thoughts and condolences are with his family, friends, and all who were touched by his remarkable life.

Kate Rufener, the Chair of our Board of Trustees and Cameron’s Director in “Shakespeare in Love” had this to share about Cameron:

“A favorite memory of Cameron is a rehearsal where he surprised all of us. He said before rehearsal started that night, ‘I’m kinda nervous about doing this.’ As a swing, he was afforded so little onstage time to perfect delivery and build trust with his fellow cast. Swing work takes hours and days of prep work in isolation to ensure a smooth performance, not to mention create a helpful rehearsal environment for all involved. He proved how much work he’d put in with his seamless connection that night, and every other we were lucky enough to have him onstage. Even as he confessed to nerves, he showed us all what it meant to shine.

“Getting to know Cameron in a theater setting revealed his fearless agility, dependable capability, and extraordinary talent. But his stalwart kindness, thoughtfulness, and humility will stand as inspiration for all who worked with and knew him in any capacity. He will forever be in our hearts as the memory of him continues to shine.”

“Take him and cut him out in little stars,
And he will make the face of heaven so fine
That all the world will be in love with night
And pay no worship to the garish sun.”
– William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet, Act 3, Scene 2
