Born to Peter and Christine Strom, Sonja was the cherished daughter and loving sister to Annika Strom. Growing up in Castle Rock, she was deeply involved in her community, excelling academically, participating in sports, volunteering, and engaging in activities that reflected her vibrant and responsible nature. Teachers and classmates at Douglas County High School described her as intelligent, dependable, and kindhearted, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met.
After high school, Sonja pursued her passion for science at UC San Diego, studying Chemical Engineering. In La Jolla, California, she embraced life with the same adventurous spirit that defined her youth. From exploring the Pacific beaches to skiing trips and travel adventures with friends, Sonja lived life fully and with joy.
Beyond academics and adventure, Sonja enjoyed creative pursuits, experimenting with TikTok recipes, attending concerts, and reading. Her vibrant personality and zest for life made her a cherished friend to many, and her ability to connect deeply with others left an enduring impact on those around her.
Sonja’s family remembers her for her selfless love, loyalty, and radiant spirit. She is survived by her parents, sister, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous close friends, all of whom are united in mourning her loss while honoring the life she lived so fully.
