A large-scale manhunt is underway in northwest Arkansas after a husband and wife were found murdered on a hiking trail at Devil’s Den State Park over the weekend. The victims, identified as Clinton Brink, 43, and Cristen Brink, 41, were hiking with their two young daughters when the fatal incident occurred, Arkansas State Police confirmed.
Authorities were alerted to the scene around 2:40 p.m. Saturday. Officers discovered the couple’s bodies on one of the park’s remote trails. Miraculously, the Brinks’ daughters, ages 9 and 7, were unharmed and are now in the care of family members.
The family had recently moved to Prairie Grove, Arkansas, from out of state, according to officials. The motive and cause of the killings have not yet been released, and police continue to withhold certain details as the investigation intensifies.
Law enforcement is actively searching for a suspect described as a white male of medium build. He was last seen wearing a long-sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up, dark pants, a dark ballcap, sunglasses, and fingerless gloves. The individual was also carrying a black backpack.
Investigators believe the suspect fled in a black four-door sedan—possibly a Mazda—with tape obscuring the license plate. The vehicle was reportedly seen heading toward the park exit and may have traveled along State Route 170 or 220.
Officials described the area of the park where the incident occurred as rugged, heavily forested, and without cell service, further complicating search efforts.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred at Devil’s Den State Park,” said Shea Lewis, Secretary of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism. “Our hearts are with the victims’ loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
Lewis added that law enforcement presence has been ramped up at all state parks in response to the tragedy.
Investigators are urging anyone who visited Devil’s Den on Saturday to review personal photos and videos for any potential sightings of the suspect or the vehicle in question.
The Arkansas State Police continue to lead the investigation.
