It is with a very heavy heart that we advise of the passing of Daniel Burg, a volunteer firefighter with Scugog Fire & Emergency Services who passed away at his home in Caesarea.

Daniel was hired as a Volunteer Firefighter on December 9, 2020, and proudly served from Station 62 Caesarea. He was an active member of the Station and always brought forward a positive outlook and engaging personality. He was full of life and was always looking to find ways to give back to our community. He will be missed a tremendous amount by his fellow Firefighters and the community that he served.

As a sign of respect and condolence for Daniel and his family, the flags at the Municipal Office have been lowered to half mast and will remain as such up to and including the day of his funeral.

We encourage everyone to keep Daniel’s family in their thoughts during this very difficult time.

Beyond his role as a firefighter, Daniel was a cherished friend, family member, and community figure. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help anyone in need. Whether through his firefighting duties or personal interactions, Daniel touched the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and strength.

The loss of Daniel Burg is deeply felt by all who knew him. His family and loved ones are receiving an outpouring of condolences and support as they navigate this difficult time. The firefighting community in Scugog and beyond is also coming together to honor his contributions and memory.

Plans for a memorial service or tribute will be announced to celebrate Daniel’s life and service. The community is encouraged to share their memories and support his family during this period of grief.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Burg family, his fellow firefighters, and all who had the privilege of knowing Daniel. May his courage and dedication continue to inspire those who follow in his footsteps. Rest in peace, Daniel Burg.
