SOUTH HEIDELBERG TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A tragic motorcycle crash early Wednesday morning has left the community of North Heidelberg Township grieving the untimely death of 24-year-old Daniel A. Kundrat, who was killed in a collision along Route 422.

The fatal incident occurred just after 5:30 a.m. on July 30 in the 6600 block of Penn Avenue, near the intersection of Old West Penn Avenue. According to the South Heidelberg Township Police Department, Kundrat was traveling eastbound in the center lane of Route 422 on his motorcycle when a westbound sedan attempted to turn left onto Old West Penn Avenue.

The sedan crossed into the motorcycle’s path, resulting in a violent collision. The impact ejected Kundrat from the motorcycle, causing catastrophic injuries. Emergency responders were on the scene within minutes and performed life-saving efforts, but Kundrat was pronounced dead at 6:35 a.m. by Deputy Coroner Holly Stavarski of the Berks County Coroner’s Office.

The official cause of death was hypovolemic shock due to multiple blunt force injuries, and the manner was ruled accidental. Officials have stated that an autopsy will not be performed.

The driver of the sedan remained at the scene and is cooperating fully with investigators. Police confirmed that multiple witnesses have already come forward, providing essential details as authorities work to reconstruct the events leading up to the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
