SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Springfield police are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of 21-year-old Delquan Scott, who was found deceased outside an apartment building early Tuesday morning at 324 E. Montclair.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 7:10 a.m. on November 18, 2025. When they arrived, they discovered Scott, a Springfield resident, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have notified his family.
Police quickly identified and arrested 23-year-old Deandre Jonas, also of Springfield, in connection with the shooting. According to investigators, Scott and Jonas were known to each other. Jonas was taken into custody at the scene and booked into the Greene County Jail. The case will be forwarded to the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office for potential charges.
The deadly incident marks Springfield’s 10th homicide of 2025, a statistic that underscores growing concerns regarding violent crime in the community. Detectives are now working to determine what led to the confrontation between the two men.
