Douglas Cella named as pedestrian fatally struck on Interstate 76 in Gloucester City, Camden County

GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ – A 60-year-old Sewell man lost his life early Tuesday morning after being struck by a vehicle at a busy intersection in Camden County.

According to New Jersey State Police, the incident occurred around 2:20 a.m. on April 1, 2025, when the driver of a Mitsubishi Eclipse was traveling southbound on U.S. Route 130 and merging onto the ramp for Interstate 76. The vehicle collided with Douglas Cella, who had entered the path of the car.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but Cella succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Mitsubishi and any passengers in the vehicle were not injured, authorities confirmed.

By daylight, the damaged Mitsubishi remained at the scene, marking the location of the deadly crash as investigators worked to determine the exact circumstances leading up to the collision.

State police have not yet released further details as the investigation remains ongoing.
