According to a news release, authorities in Jefferson Parish are investigating a devastating shooting in River Ridge that resulted in the deaths of three individuals—a mother, her 2-year-old child, and the child’s father—while leaving two other children seriously injured. The tragic incident, which occurred early Saturday morning, is under thorough review by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office (JPSO) as details continue to unfold.
According to the Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office, the victims and the alleged shooter have been identified. Glenn Bohne Jr., 46, is accused of fatally shooting his wife, Dung Pham, and their 2-year-old daughter, Amy Bohne. Two other children, a 13-year-old girl and a 9-year-old girl, were also injured during the violent episode. The 9-year-old remains in critical condition, while the older child is reported to be in stable condition.
The shooting occurred in the 10,000 block of Stephen Drive, a quiet residential area in River Ridge. Sheriff Joseph Lopinto stated that deputies were dispatched after receiving a 911 call, reportedly made by one of the children in the home. Upon arriving, deputies discovered a violent domestic situation in which Bohne had allegedly shot his wife and young daughter.
When deputies confronted Bohne, he reportedly brandished a firearm, prompting several deputies to fire their weapons. Bohne was fatally shot at the scene. Investigators are working to determine what led to the escalation of events, describing the incident as a domestic homicide that turned deadly.
Dung Pham and her 2-year-old daughter were pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency medical responders transported the injured 13-year-old and 9-year-old to Children’s Hospital for treatment. While the older child is in stable condition, the younger one remains in critical care.
Sheriff Lopinto offered his condolences to the victims’ family and acknowledged the profound tragedy of the situation. He assured the public that the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Further updates will be released as authorities gather more information.
