Eric Grigsby Obituary News: Two Teens Killed in Domestic Violence Incident; Stepfather Fatally Shot by Harris County Deputies

A devastating domestic violence incident in Harris County on Monday evening has left three people dead, including two teenage brothers and their stepfather. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), has launched a full investigation into the tragedy.

The violence unfolded around 6:50 p.m. at a home on Christophers Way. According to investigators, a woman identified as Kelly Grigsby fled the residence with her five-year-old child and sought help from a neighbor, telling 911 dispatchers that a domestic dispute had escalated and that the male resident was threatening the children as well as any officers who might respond.

When deputies arrived, they positioned their patrol vehicles to cast light on the darkened front entryway. Authorities say 40-year-old Eric Grigsby emerged armed with two handguns and refused repeated commands to drop his weapons. He then pointed the firearms toward deputies, prompting them to open fire. Grigsby discharged his weapons as officers returned fire, according to the GBI.

After Grigsby was subdued, deputies entered the home and discovered two teenage boys—Grigsby’s 16-year-old and 14-year-old stepsons—suffering from gunshot wounds. The 16-year-old died at the scene. The 14-year-old was transported by EMS, but despite life-saving efforts, he later died from his injuries.

Sheriff Mike Jolley described the case as one of the most painful the community has faced.
“This was a tragic family violence shooting resulting in the death of three individuals,” Jolley said. “Two teenage young men were shot and killed by their stepfather, and the stepfather was shot and killed by deputies. The deputies responded to the scene and acted exactly as they were trained.”

The bodies of Eric Grigsby and the two minors have been taken to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsies. Investigators from both agencies were on scene late into the night gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.

The investigation remains active. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact the GBI Regional Investigative Office in Columbus at (706) 565-7888.
