Florida State University freshman linebacker Ethan Pritchard is currently hospitalized in critical but stable condition following a shooting incident on Sunday night in Havana, Florida.
The Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Pritchard was found inside a vehicle outside the Havana Heights Apartments around 10 p.m. and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Pritchard, a 6-foot-2, 224-pound linebacker from Sanford, Florida, enrolled at FSU in the spring of 2025 after a standout high school career at Seminole High School. In his final two seasons, he recorded 114 tackles, including 18 for loss, and one fumble recovery.
He was a four-star recruit and committed to FSU over offers from Miami, Florida, and UCF. The shooting occurred just one day after the Florida State football team secured a 31-17 victory over No. 8 Alabama in their season opener. Pritchard did not participate in the game.
The FSU football program released a statement expressing gratitude for the support from the community and requesting privacy for the Pritchard family during this time.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is leading the investigation into the incident. Authorities have not released further details, and no arrests have been made. The Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information to come forward.
As the investigation continues, the FSU community remains hopeful for Pritchard’s recovery and stands united in support of his family.
