BROOKLYN, N.Y. — A Flatbush neighborhood is in mourning following the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Ramel Ingram, who was killed outside his home on Wednesday night.

The shooting occurred just before 8:45 p.m. on Crooked Avenue, between Saint Paul’s Place and Ocean Avenue, police said. Ingram was standing in front of his residence when gunfire erupted, striking him in the chest.
Neighbors described hearing several loud pops before people were seen running from the scene. Emergency crews arrived within minutes, rushing Ingram to a nearby hospital. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
Investigation Ongoing
Authorities confirmed that a person of interest has been taken into custody, though no charges have yet been filed. Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including a possible motive.

“This shouldn’t be happening,” one resident said through tears. “Ramel had his whole life in front of him. It’s just heartbreaking.”
