Four-Year-Old Girl Injured in Accidental Shooting in New Iberia

NEW IBERIA, La. — A four-year-old girl is recovering after being injured in an accidental shooting Tuesday morning in New Iberia.

According to the New Iberia Police Department, officers were called to the 400 block of Ann Street following reports of a child being shot. Upon arrival, they found the young girl suffering from a gunshot wound.

Authorities say the incident occurred when another child was playing with a firearm, which discharged and struck the girl. She was rushed to a local hospital, where she was listed in stable condition. Police say she is expected to make a full recovery.

The shooting remains under investigation, and no further details have been released at this time.
