Further details released after 31-year-old Robert Payne killed his wife Brianna Payne, their 3 daughters before taking own life

Northwest Indiana authorities are investigating a devastating case of domestic violence after five family members were found dead in a home on Friday afternoon.

According to police, officers responded to a welfare check at a residence in the 6700 block of 9th Avenue around 2:44 p.m. Upon arrival, authorities obtained a search warrant and discovered the bodies of five individuals inside the home.

Investigators have confirmed that all victims were related, and the case appears to be an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the public.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as Brianna Payne, 27, and her three young daughters—Alayna Payne, 4, Ava Payne, 6, and Aurorah Payne, 7. All four died from gunshot wounds, and their deaths have been ruled homicides. The suspected shooter, Robert Payne, 31, the husband and father, is believed to have turned the gun on himself following the tragic killings.
