GREELEY, Colo. – A tragic case of domestic violence ended in a murder-suicide Monday afternoon in Greeley, leaving a 40-year-old woman dead and the suspected gunman with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities confirmed.
The incident unfolded on March 17, 2025, when a Greeley Police officer was dispatched at approximately 9:33 a.m. to investigate a possible restraining order violation. Later that afternoon, at around 4:30 p.m., while the officer was updating the victim on the status of her case, she informed law enforcement that the suspect had returned to the scene.
Deadly Confrontation in Parking Lot
Greeley Police officers rushed to the 2400 block of 38th Avenue after receiving reports of a man with a weapon. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 36-year-old male dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the parking lot. Nearby, they found a 40-year-old woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the driver’s seat of a parked vehicle. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
A two-year-old child, believed to be connected to the victim, was found unharmed in the back seat of the vehicle. The child was taken into protective care.
History of Domestic Disputes
According to police, the victim and the suspect had a history of domestic disputes, and officers had previously investigated their volatile relationship. However, details on the restraining order and any prior interventions have not been released.

Authorities have withheld the names of the deceased pending notification of next of kin by the Weld County Coroner’s Office.
