The Sheppard Family has announced the sudden and heartbreaking passing of Pastor Paul Sheppard, senior pastor of Destiny Christian Fellowship in Fremont, CA.
Pastor Sheppard, who had been in pastoral ministry since 1982, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025, according to a statement issued by First Lady Meredith Sheppard and the Sheppard Family.
“With heavy hearts, we share the transition of my husband and our beloved pastor, Pastor Paul E. Sheppard, who entered into rest on Saturday, January 25, 2025,” the family’s statement read.
Since 2009, Pastor Sheppard faithfully led Destiny Christian Fellowship as its senior pastor. Before that, he served as senior pastor of Abundant Life Christian Fellowship in Mountain View, CA, for two decades, from 1989 to 2009.
His ministry journey began in 1982 when he became an associate pastor at West Oak Lane Church of God in his hometown of Philadelphia, PA. Pastor Sheppard was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, the Center for Urban Theological Studies, and the Southern California School of Ministry, where he earned a Master’s in Ministry degree and later received an honorary Doctorate of Divinity.
Beyond the pulpit, Pastor Sheppard hosted the widely popular podcast *Destined for Victory* and authored several books, including *Rebuilding What the Enemy Almost Destroyed*, *Why God Created Dads*, and *Build a Bridge and Get Over It*.
He is survived by his wife, Meredith, whom he married in 1982, and their two children, Alicia Greer and Aaron Sheppard.
The news of his passing has deeply impacted his congregation, many of whom shared heartfelt tributes honoring his legacy.
“Pastor Paul preached the Word like no one else. My last few visits were truly memorable,” one congregant wrote.
