Waterloo, Iowa — The Waterloo community is mourning the untimely passing of Jason Michael Nabholz, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend who died unexpectedly on November 11, 2025, at just 35 years old. His sudden loss has left family, friends, and colleagues heartbroken, remembering a man whose warmth, loyalty, and quiet strength touched countless lives.
Born on December 14, 1989, in Waterloo, Jason was the cherished son of Tim and Donna (Vohsman) Nabholz. He grew up surrounded by love and support, developing into a person known for his dedication, humility, and unshakable sense of teamwork.
A 2008 graduate of Waterloo West High School, Jason was a standout both in the classroom and on the athletic field. His leadership and love for sports led him to Central College in Pella, where he became a proud four-year member of the college football team. Teammates remember him for his determination, discipline, and ability to inspire others — qualities that followed him throughout every chapter of his life.
Professionally, Jason carried that same spirit into his decade-long career at CBE’s Command Center, where he was known as a dependable and hardworking team member. Colleagues describe him as someone who led by example — steady, reliable, and always willing to help others succeed.
Beyond his professional and athletic achievements, Jason was a man who truly embraced life. He was a passionate pool player, competing in several local leagues, and a devoted sports fan who never missed a chance to cheer for his favorite teams — the Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Lakers. He also enjoyed golfing and spending time outdoors, but his favorite moments were the simple ones shared with his loyal dog, Kobe, who was more than a pet — he was Jason’s best friend.
Family was the center of Jason’s world. He shared a deep bond with his parents, his sister Hillary (William) Stewart, and his brothers Brian (Melissa), Neil (Alyx), Russell, and Steven Nabholz. His greatest joy came from being “Uncle Jason” to his beloved nephews — Cooper Falck, Bennett Nabholz, August Stewart, Finley Stewart, Dawson Nabholz, and Legend Nabholz — and his niece, Harper Nabholz. Whether attending their games, cracking jokes, or celebrating family milestones, Jason’s presence brought laughter and love to every gathering.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, who are remembered as having played a special role in shaping his life and values.
A visitation to celebrate Jason’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service (South Street), located at 400 South Street, Waterloo. In honor of his love for sports, guests are encouraged to wear their favorite team apparel.
Jason’s unexpected passing leaves behind a profound sense of loss, but also a legacy of kindness, humor, and devotion.
