Josh Dimino Obituary Delray Beach, FL: Hale Street Tavern Oyster Bar mourn the loss of employee who went overboard off Palm Beach County coast

The community of Delray Beach is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Joshua Dimino, a beloved 32-year-old employee of Hale Street Tavern Oyster Bar, who was reported missing after falling overboard off the coast of Palm Beach County on Wednesday, April 9, 2025. The United States Coast Guard has since suspended its active search efforts, marking a deeply sorrowful chapter for those who knew and loved him.

According to official reports, Josh was last seen approximately 17 miles southeast of the Lake Worth Inlet, where he reportedly went overboard from an unidentified vessel. The U.S. Coast Guard immediately launched an intensive search, deploying air and surface units across a vast area of open water. In coordination with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and other partner agencies, efforts were made to locate Josh throughout Wednesday evening and into Thursday.

However, due to deteriorating weather and unsafe sea conditions, the Coast Guard announced a pause in active search operations, though an urgent marine broadcast continues in hopes that nearby vessels may assist in reporting any new sightings or information.

“Due to operational risks with the current sea state, the Coast Guard is continuing to radio an urgent marine information broadcast, but no active searches are being conducted at this time,” the agency said in a statement.

Josh’s disappearance has sent shockwaves through Delray Beach and especially among his extended work family at Hale Street Tavern Oyster Bar, where he was known for his warm personality, dedication, and generous spirit. Co-workers and regulars alike remember Josh as someone who lit up every room he entered, whether behind the bar, in the kitchen, or just sharing laughs with guests. His presence was magnetic, his energy contagious, and his kindness boundless.

In a touching tribute posted by the tavern, staff wrote:

“Josh was not just a part of our team—he was family. His heart, his laughter, his loyalty… those things made this place feel like home to so many. We are devastated by this loss and extend our deepest condolences to his loved ones.”

Originally from the Northeast, Josh made Delray Beach his home and became an integral part of the local community. Friends describe him as adventurous, with a deep love for the ocean, music, and good company. His absence will be deeply felt in the hearts of all who knew him.

A memorial gathering is being planned by friends and co-workers in the coming days to celebrate Josh’s life, share memories, and offer support to one another during this incredibly difficult time.

As the search has shifted to a waiting phase, the community holds onto hope for closure while honoring a man who brought joy, friendship, and love to so many.

May Joshua Dimino’s light continue to shine through the lives he touched, and may he rest peacefully.
