It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we mourn the loss of Josh Reimer, a cherished husband, father, son, brother, teacher, and friend, who was tragically killed in a car accident near Rimbey, Alberta on April 22, 2025. At just 29 years old, Josh’s life was cut far too short in a moment that has left a deep and lasting impact on his family, friends, and the entire Red Deer and Rimbey communities.
Josh was traveling with his brother-in-law when their vehicle was involved in a devastating crash. While Josh sadly did not survive the accident, his brother-in-law was transported to the hospital and is currently recovering from injuries. The Reimer family, once whole, now carries a sorrow that words can barely begin to express.
Those who knew Josh will remember him not just for what he did, but for who he was. He was a man of unwavering faith, gentle strength, and deep compassion. As a devoted husband to Shanyn and loving father to Marlee (3), Londyn (23 months), and a third child expected in July, Josh’s world revolved around his family. His pride in being a dad and his joy in sharing life with his wife were evident to all. Whether he was chasing giggles in the backyard, rocking a child to sleep, or preparing a lesson for his students, he did it all with love and integrity.
A gifted educator, Josh brought energy, empathy, and purpose into the classroom. His students looked up to him not only as a teacher, but as a mentor and role model. He had the rare ability to make people feel seen and heard, and his classroom was a safe and welcoming place for all who entered it.
Josh also lived out his faith with quiet strength, serving faithfully in his church and leading by example in his day-to-day life. He had a heart for people—he listened without judgment, showed up without needing to be asked, and offered kindness without condition. His laugh was infectious, his spirit sincere, and his presence grounding.
As we grieve this unimaginable loss, we also celebrate the legacy Josh leaves behind. He lived with intention and gave with abundance. Though his years were few, the love he gave and the lives he touched were many. In his memory, may we strive to emulate his compassion, his kindness, and his unwavering faith.
We hold the entire Reimer family in our hearts—especially Shanyn, Marlee, Londyn, and the little one who will grow up learning about the incredible man their father was. May God grant them comfort and peace in the days to come.
