The community of Oakwood, Virginia is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 36-year-old Julianna Marie Farmer, who passed away at her home on Saturday, November 1, 2025. Her passing has left family, friends, coworkers, and loved ones devastated as they come to terms with the sudden loss of a woman known for her kindness, creativity, and deep love for her family.

Born on August 19, 1989, in Richlands, Virginia, Julianna spent her entire life in the region she loved. A 2008 graduate of Twin Valley High School, she was well-known within the community — not only for her warm personality and compassion toward others — but through her work at the United States Postal Service in Honaker, where she proudly served for more than ten years. Colleagues say she approached every day with dedication, reliability, and an honest care for the people she served.
Beyond her professional life, Julianna was a talented and passionate creative. She enjoyed photography, capturing moments and memories through her lens, and also had a passion for designing clothing — a hobby that allowed her artistic spirit to shine.
A Life Cherished and A Loss Deeply Felt
Julianna was a woman of faith, having been raised in and committed to the Holiness belief. She will be remembered most for her unwavering love as a mother, daughter, sister, and treasured friend.
She is survived by her two children, Patrick Farmer and Charlee Farmer, both of Rowe, who were the center of her world and the greatest joy in her life. She is also survived by her parents, Herman and Christine Hess of Rowe; her brother, Kalvin Hess (wife Valerie), her sisters Crystal Cook (husband Greg) and Nickey Salyers (husband Cecil); as well as special friends Adam Farmer and Sam Street, who remained close to her heart.
She was preceded in death by her biological parents, Fred and Charlotte Kilgore; along with grandparents Sharon Blankenship, Gracie Price, James Justice, and Olbert and Carria Hess.
Final Arrangements
Funeral services will take place on Thursday at 1:00 PM at Honaker Funeral Home Chapel in Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Anthony Hale and Rev. Billy Vandyke officiating. Burial will follow at Nuckles Cemetery located at Fletchers Ridge.
The family will receive friends Wednesday after 6:00 PM at the funeral home, where an evening service will be held at 7:00 PM led by Rev. Michael Justice. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
