WEST BRADFORD TWP., PA — The Chester County community is mourning the tragic loss of Kevin Donahue, a sophomore at Malvern Preparatory School, who was killed Tuesday morning in a roadway accident on Downingtown Pike (Route 322).

According to Pennsylvania State Police, the incident unfolded just east of Romig Road when an eastbound vehicle struck a deer, sending the animal airborne into the westbound lanes. The deer crashed into the windshield of another vehicle, where Kevin was riding as a passenger.
The 16-year-old student was critically injured and rushed to a nearby hospital, but despite emergency efforts, he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators said the vehicle that initially struck the deer — described as a black Toyota Sienna with heavy front-end damage — left the scene and has not yet been located. Authorities are asking the driver, or anyone with information, to contact PSP Embreeville at 610-486-6280.
Kevin Donahue was remembered as a dedicated student and athlete at Malvern Prep, where he played offensive line and linebacker for the Friars football team. Standing 5’10”, he was admired by teammates and coaches alike for his hard work, determination, and team spirit.
News of his passing has left classmates, teachers, and the wider Malvern Prep community devastated. School officials said grief counseling and support services will be made available in the coming days to help students and staff cope with the loss.
“Kevin was a valued member of our school family, and his absence will be felt deeply,” one staff member shared.
The sudden tragedy has not only shaken the halls of Malvern Prep but also underscored the unpredictable dangers of roadways. As police continue their investigation, the community has rallied around the Donahue family, offering condolences and support during this heartbreaking time.
