Lauren M. Sweeney, a vibrant and deeply cherished young woman, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Prisma Health Baptist Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.
At just 21 years old, Lauren’s life was tragically cut short due to natural causes, leaving her family, friends, and all who knew her in profound sorrow. Her kindness, passion, and warmth left an indelible mark on those around her.
Born in Sewell, New Jersey, Lauren was the beloved daughter of Gregg and Carol Ann Broll Sweeney. She was the granddaughter of the late George A. and Joanne Gleba Broll on her maternal side and the late Carol Frey Sweeney on her paternal side.
Lauren was a devoted and loving sister to Jillian M. Sweeney and Ryan J. Sweeney, who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. She is also survived by her paternal grandfather, William L. Sweeney, along with a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins who adored her.
Lauren’s childhood began in Sewell, New Jersey, where she attended Herma Simons Elementary School. In 2016, her family moved to Bucks County, Pennsylvania, where she attended Central Bucks West High School, graduating in 2021. Her school years were filled with meaningful friendships and lasting memories.
Lauren was a driven and focused individual with a clear vision for her future. She was a senior at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, studying Exercise Science and set to graduate in May 2025. Her ultimate goal was to become a physical therapist, and she had already been accepted to Arcadia University to pursue a doctorate in Physical Therapy.
Beyond her academic pursuits, Lauren’s dedication to helping others shone through in every aspect of her life. She was an active member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority at the University of South Carolina, where she formed deep connections with her sorority sisters and participated in various campus activities.
Lauren’s legacy is one of love, determination, and a commitment to making the world a better place. Her absence leaves a void that can never be filled, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
