The Port St. Lucie community is mourning the tragic loss of 22-year-old Matthew Beddome, who died following a motorcycle accident on Monday night.

The accident occurred around 8:35 p.m. at the intersection of Northwest St. James Drive and Northwest St. James Boulevard. According to the Port St. Lucie Police Department, Beddome was riding his Kawasaki motorcycle southbound on Northwest St. James Drive when a 47-year-old woman driving a Toyota Camry northbound turned left onto Northwest St. James Boulevard, crossing into Beddome’s path. Despite having the right of way with a green traffic signal, Beddome’s motorcycle collided with the right rear of the Camry, resulting in his ejection from the vehicle.

Emergency responders transported Beddome to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities noted that he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The Port St. Lucie Police Department is actively investigating the incident and has appealed to the public for any witnesses or individuals with video footage to come forward to assist in their inquiries.
