Michael Krol Obituary, Cause of Death Midlothian: Virginia lawyer and litigator Michael Krol Esq., dies suddenly

Michael Robert Krol was born at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, and raised in Macomb Township. Even from a young age, Michael stood out—not only for his intelligence, but for the compassion and kindness he showed to others.
He attended Lutheran North High School, where he played soccer and built friendships that lasted throughout his life. Later, when his family moved to Holland, Michigan, he was part of the first graduating class of Black River High School.
Michael’s academic journey continued at Kalamazoo Valley Community College, before earning his BA from Western Michigan University and finally achieving his law degree (JD) from the prestigious William & Mary Law School in Williamsburg, Virginia.
Michael’s early life was marked by an insatiable drive and a powerful sense of responsibility. Even in his teenage years, he balanced school with work, always determined to contribute and improve his situation.

That same drive carried him through law school, where he impressively juggled his studies, two jobs, and raising two children. Once Michael set his sights on a goal, there was no stopping him. His determination and tenacity were unwavering.

After graduating law school, Michael secured a position as a plaintiff’s attorney and quickly built a name for himself in the legal community. Within just over a decade of practicing law, Michael made the bold decision to establish his own firm.

Alongside his partner, Robert Maury, Esq., he founded Maury and Krol, PLLC. Despite the risks—no guaranteed income, no safety net, and four children to raise, including two in college—Michael threw himself wholeheartedly into this new venture.

Thanks to his leadership, courage, and vision, the firm thrived and became known not just for legal excellence, but for its one-of-a-kind workplace culture. Michael was the heart of that culture: professional, dedicated, but never afraid to show his playful side.

His colleagues admired his legal acumen and his ability to connect with clients on a deep, human level. He helped hundreds navigate difficult moments in their lives and was recognized for his sharp mind, steady hand, and heartfelt advice.

To his coworkers and clients alike, Michael was more than just an attorney—he was a trusted friend and a symbol of integrity. Beyond his professional success, Michael’s most cherished role was that of father.

He was a devoted and deeply involved dad to Haley Rebecca (23), Phoenix Renee (20), Brennan Michael (13), and Everett “Fuppet” Finley (11). He passed on to them his love of the outdoors, his strong values, and his quirky sense of humor.

He shared long-distance runs and life lessons with Haley, who inherited his work ethic and goal-setting mindset. With Phoenix, his love and belief in her never wavered, especially when life got hard. Brennan treasured having his dad as his football coach and gym partner.

And Everett shared unforgettable hikes with his father in Shenandoah, where the two would bond over nature and laughter. Michael taught his children to be kind, to be strong, to laugh, and to never give up. They all carry pieces of his spirit—his empathy, humor, and fierce loyalty.

He is survived by his beloved children, his parents Robert and Nancy, his sister Michelle (Joshua), his grandmother Marilyn LaForest, and his loyal dog, “Princess” Gracie. His memory will also live on through his extended family, friends, colleagues, and the countless lives he touched.

Michael loved reading Garfield and The Far Side, playing soccer, hiking, camping, and being a goofball dad. He was a marathon runner, a brilliant lawyer, and a tender-hearted man who always made time for those he loved. He will be remembered as someone who gave his all—in life, in love, and in work.

Celebration of Life will be held at Maury and Krol, PLLC, 14415 Justice Drive, Midlothian, VA, on Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 2 PM to 6 PM. Friends and family are welcome. BYOB (Bring Your Own Beanie) and casual dress are requested in honor of Michael’s fun-loving spirit.
