Miguel Angel Navarrete Obituary-Death News; Miguel Angel Navarrete Passes Away In Fatal Merced County Big rig collision

Miguel Angel Navarrete, a 27-year-old Coalinga native, was sadly murdered in an accident with a large truck in Merced County on January 16.

The accident happened shortly after 9 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5, near Taglio Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, Navarrete was driving a 2011 BMW in the first northbound lane, trailing a 2022 International truck towing a trailer.

As the big rig slowed due to traffic ahead, the BMW failed to slow down and collided with the back of the trailer. The incident caused the BMW to become trapped beneath the trailer, causing extensive front-end damage. Navarrete was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Authorities are still investigating the reason of the disaster, and it is unclear whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
