Noemi Hernandez Obituary: In Loving Memory Of Mother of Four Murdered By Husband Hector Luvianos In Batavia, Illinois

BATAVIA, Ill. — A Batavia family and the surrounding community are grieving after a domestic homicide claimed the life of a mother of four just days before Christmas.

Noemi Hernandez was killed during the early morning hours of Tuesday, Dec. 23, in an incident prosecutors allege involved her husband. The incident occurred at an apartment building in the 100 block of Church Street.

According to police and court records, Batavia officers were dispatched at approximately 4:37 a.m. after a man called emergency dispatchers and reported that he had killed his wife. Officers arrived at the scene and located the man outside the building, where he was taken into custody without incident.

Inside the apartment, officers found Hernandez with critical injuries. Life-saving efforts were immediately attempted by first responders, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities identified the suspect as Hector B. Luvianos, 37, who was transported to the Batavia Police Department for questioning. Investigators, working with the Kane County Major Crimes Task Force, determined the incident was domestic in nature and involved only the two individuals. Police stated there is no threat to the public.

On Dec. 24, 2025, Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser and Batavia Police Chief Eric Blowers announced that Luvianos was formally charged with first-degree murder, a Class M felony in Illinois. He appeared in court the same day for a pretrial detention hearing and was ordered held in the Kane County Jail.

The Kane County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene, and an autopsy has been scheduled to determine the official cause and manner of Hernandez’s death. The investigation remains ongoing.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, Hernandez’s family has started a GoFundMe campaign to help cover funeral and related expenses. In the fundraiser, family members described her as “the heart of the family,” highlighting her dedication to her children and her tireless work ethic.

The family said her sudden death has left them both emotionally and financially overwhelmed. With limited resources and no life insurance, they are facing funeral costs, legal expenses, and the challenge of supporting four children coping with the loss of their mother.

They are asking for community support to help lay Hernandez to rest and allow the family to focus on healing during this difficult time.
