Transylvania County, NC – Tragedy struck a family in western North Carolina early Saturday morning when a massive tree crashed onto their home, claiming the lives of two young brothers.
At 3:38 a.m., emergency responders from Connestee Fire Rescue and Transylvania County EMS rushed to a distress call reporting that a large tree had fallen on a single-wide trailer, trapping children inside.
According to officials, the tree—estimated to be around three feet in diameter—collapsed onto the structure with devastating force, destroying a section of the home and pinning the children in their bedroom.
Family members on the scene told first responders that the boys had been inside when the tree came down. After navigating through the wreckage, emergency crews reached the trapped children but found that neither had survived.
The victims were identified as Joshua Leviskia, 11, and Josiah Leviskia, 13.
Authorities have not yet confirmed what caused the tree to fall, though severe weather and heavy winds are being considered as possible factors. The incident is under investigation as the community mourns the tragic loss of the two brothers.
