YORK COUNTY, Pa. — A major police response unfolded Wednesday afternoon in North Codorus Township, where state police, EMS crews, and a STAT MedEvac helicopter converged on Haar Road following an active incident.

Authorities confirmed that two individuals are being treated for serious injuries in connection with the events. WellSpan York Hospital officials said both victims remain in serious condition and noted that the hospital is operating under enhanced security protocols as a precaution.
The York County Forensic Investigation Unit has been deployed to the scene as officials continue their inquiry. At this time, state police have not released details about what triggered the response. Trooper James Grothey, Public Information Officer for PSP Troop J, said more information will be shared as it becomes available.
False Report at Nearby School
Amid the developing situation, confusion arose when reports circulated of a possible shooting at Paradise Elementary School in the Spring Grove Area School District. District officials later confirmed that no shooting occurred and that the report was false.
Even so, as a safety measure, schools across the district were placed on shelter-in-place protocols at the direction of local law enforcement. A district statement said that all students and staff are safe, though transportation is experiencing significant delays. Students who had already departed for the day were returned to their schools until clearance is given.
“We will remain in shelter in place until law enforcement notifies us it is safe to resume normal operations,” the district stated.
Lawmakers Respond
The incident has drawn responses from state and federal leaders.
- Governor Josh Shapiro said on social media that he has been briefed and is traveling to the scene:
“We ask those in the area to please follow the directions of local law enforcement and @PAStatePolice.”
- Attorney General Dave Sunday confirmed he is en route.
- Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis urged Pennsylvanians to “send prayers to the officers and those involved.”
- U.S. Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11), whose district includes the area, said he is “closely monitoring” developments and offered prayers for first responders.
Roads Closed, Heavy Police Presence
The incident began shortly after 2:10 p.m., according to the York County Office of Emergency Management. Witnesses reported an ambulance traveling through New Salem Borough escorted by at least eight police vehicles.
Authorities are urging the public to avoid the area while the investigation remains active.
