SILVER SPRING, MD — The Wheaton community is in mourning following the tragic death of 34-year-old Osbelia Minh, a mother of two, who lost her life in a single-vehicle crash late Sunday night in Silver Spring.
According to Montgomery County Police, the fatal incident occurred at approximately 10:41 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2025, in the 10400 block of Colesville Road in the Four Corners neighborhood. Emergency crews from the Montgomery County Department of Police and Fire/Rescue responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a vehicle collision involving a utility pole.
Upon arrival, first responders discovered a black 2022 Kia Telluride that had veered off the roadway and collided with a wooden utility pole. Minh, the sole occupant and driver of the SUV, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Preliminary findings by the Collision Reconstruction Unit indicate that the vehicle had been traveling southbound on Colesville Road when, for reasons still under investigation, it left the right side of the road and struck the pole with significant force. No other vehicles were involved in the collision.
Minh, remembered by friends and family as a devoted mother and warm-hearted neighbor, leaves behind two young children. Loved ones describe her as a vibrant presence in the Wheaton community—known for her kindness, strength, and unwavering commitment to her family.
“This is a devastating loss,” said a family friend. “Osbelia was the kind of person who made everyone feel seen and cared for. Her children were her world.”
