Rebecca Kuiper Obituary Michigan: Family and friends mourn the loss of Grand Rapids woman killed in La Porte car accident

La Porte County, Indiana — Authorities have identified the woman killed in a single-vehicle crash Sunday morning as 31-year-old Rebecca L. Kuiper, a resident of Grand Rapids, Michigan. The fatal accident occurred near the intersection of County Road 800 South and County Road 900 West in rural La Porte County.

According to the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office, the crash was reported at approximately 11:11 a.m. on Sunday, June 29. Preliminary findings by Deputy Ryan Doperalski and other responding officers indicate that Kuiper was driving a green 2001 Ford Ranger eastbound on CR 800 South when the vehicle veered off the road onto a gravel shoulder just west of the intersection.

In an apparent attempt to correct the vehicle’s path, Kuiper lost control, causing the pickup to slide sideways across the roadway. As the vehicle reached the intersection, it rolled over multiple times, ultimately coming to rest in a nearby field on the south side of CR 800 South. Investigators say Kuiper was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

She was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital where she later succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident, officials confirmed.

Authorities noted that toxicology results are pending, and no additional information is being released at this time as the investigation remains ongoing.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Westville Police Department, La Porte County EMS, Noble Township Volunteer Fire Department, and John’s Garage, along with several sheriff’s deputies and investigators.

The sudden and tragic loss of Rebecca Kuiper has left family and friends in mourning, both in Grand Rapids and beyond. Loved ones remember her as kind-hearted, spirited, and full of life. The community continues to await answers as the investigation unfolds.
