Riverwood Ambush: Man Shot and Stabbed in Targeted Attack, NSW Police Investigating

A man is recovering in hospital after being shot and stabbed in what authorities believe was a calculated ambush in Riverwood, in Sydney’s south-west, late Sunday night.

Residents in the quiet suburban area reported hearing multiple gunshots shortly before emergency services were alerted. Despite suffering two gunshot wounds and stab injuries, the victim was able to make his way to a hospital, where he is now being treated. Police say his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Detectives from the St George Police Area Command have established a crime scene in the Riverwood neighborhood, cordoning off the section where the attack occurred. Forensic officers spent Monday collecting evidence, while investigators canvassed the area for witnesses and reviewed nearby CCTV footage.

Police believe the victim was ambushed by one or more offenders, though the motive behind the attack remains unclear. No arrests have been made.

“This appears to be a targeted incident,” a NSW Police spokesperson confirmed. “We are working to identify everyone involved and determine the events that led to this violent attack.”

Authorities are urging anyone with information, including dash-cam or CCTV footage from the area, to contact Crime Stoppers as the investigation continues.
