According to an update from the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Samantha was traveling southbound on Highway 41, just north of Turtle Lake, when for reasons still under investigation, her vehicle crossed into the northbound lane and collided head-on with a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. Despite the swift response of emergency personnel, Samantha succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
The driver of the Tahoe, 80-year-old Larry Lee of Velva, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. After receiving initial treatment at CHI St. Alexius Health in Turtle Lake, he was airlifted to Trinity Health in Minot for further care. His passenger, 82-year-old Margie Lee, was treated for minor injuries sustained in the crash. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the accident, which occurred about 62 miles north of Bismarck.
