Philadelphia, PA — The St. Thomas Indian Orthodox Church of Philadelphia and the broader community are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Shane Varughese Thomas, who passed away on April 24, 2025, at the young age of 21 following a tragic motorcycle accident.
Shane was the cherished son of Mr. Thomas Varghese and the late Mrs. Silgy Thomas. He leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and kindness that touched the lives of all who knew him. His vibrant spirit and compassionate heart will be remembered forever by his family and friends.
He is lovingly survived by his devoted sisters, Shelby Thomas and Sheen Marie Thomas; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Aleyamma Varughese; his uncle, Mr. Varughese P. Abraham, and his family; as well as his aunts, Mrs. Jessly Alex and Mrs. Mini Viju, and their families. Shane’s passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of his loved ones and the entire church community.

Known for his infectious smile and unwavering positivity, Shane was a source of joy to everyone he encountered. Whether among family, friends, or his church community, Shane’s presence was always marked by kindness, respect, and a genuine concern for others. His life, though brief, was filled with deep faith, strong family values, and a commitment to those he loved.
Funeral and Service Details
The viewing and funeral services will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the St. Thomas Indian Orthodox Church, located at 1009 Unruh Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19111.
Following the funeral service, interment will take place at 1:00 PM at Forest Hill Cemetery, 25 Byberry Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006.
