BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Authorities in Bowling Green are actively investigating a shooting that occurred Wednesday morning at the Skyline Village Mobile Home Park on Loop Avenue, which left a 16-year-old male juvenile seriously injured.
According to Bowling Green Police Department Public Information Officer Ronnie Ward, officers responded to reports of gunfire in the mobile home community earlier in the day. Upon arrival, they discovered the teenage victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency responders quickly transported the teen to a nearby hospital, and due to the severity of his injuries, he was later airlifted to another medical facility for advanced treatment.
The current condition of the victim has not been publicly released, and his identity is being withheld due to his age.
As a safety precaution, nearby educational institutions, including Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC), were placed on lockout. SKYCTC has since lifted its lockout and resumed normal operations. However, Warren Central High School and Warren Elementary School remained on lockout status as of the last official update.
Law enforcement officials have not released details regarding any suspects, possible motives, or whether the shooting was an isolated incident. Investigators remain on the scene and are urging anyone with information related to the shooting to come forward.
“This is an active investigation, and we’re doing everything we can to determine what happened,” Officer Ward stated.
The Bowling Green community is understandably shaken by the incident, and residents in the Skyline Village area expressed concern over rising safety issues in their neighborhood.
