Springfield Police Identify 18-Year-Old Killed in Monday Night Shooting

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Authorities have identified the young man killed in a Monday evening shooting on the city’s east side.

According to Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon, the victim has been confirmed as 18-year-old Ayden Paige of Rochester. In an Aug. 20 press release, Allmon said an autopsy revealed Paige died from a single gunshot wound.

Springfield Police said officers were called to the intersection of South 14th Street and Cornell Avenue around 5:51 p.m. Monday. When they arrived, they discovered three people suffering from gunshot wounds.

All three victims were transported to a local hospital. Paige was pronounced dead shortly before 7 p.m., just after his arrival. The condition of the other two victims has not been publicly released.

As of Tuesday, no arrests have been made. Springfield Police are urging anyone with information to come forward by contacting the department at 217-788-8311 or by calling Crime Stoppers at 217-788-8427.

The investigation remains ongoing.
