Teenagers, Marcos Humberto Anaya Jr. and Tristan Deon Martin identified as two killed in Temple, TX shooting on North 1st Street

TEMPLE, Texas — Authorities have identified the two teenagers who were tragically killed in a shooting early Sunday morning in Temple. The victims have been named as 17-year-old Marcos Humberto Anaya Jr. and 18-year-old Tristan Deon Martin, both residents of the Temple area.

According to the Temple Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of North 1st Street at approximately 4:09 a.m. on Sunday, April 13, following reports of gunfire in the area.

Upon arrival, officers located one of the victims, who had sustained a gunshot wound. Despite immediate life-saving measures, the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.

Just minutes later, at approximately 4:16 a.m., officers were notified that a second gunshot victim had been transported by a friend to a nearby hospital. Sadly, the second teen also succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the medical facility.

The Temple Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division has since taken over the case and is actively working to determine the events that led up to the deadly shooting. Detectives are gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and working to identify any suspects involved in the incident.

At this time, no arrests have been made, and police have not released any information regarding possible motives or persons of interest.

The deaths of Marcos and Tristan have left the Temple community reeling. Friends and family members have begun mourning the devastating loss of two young lives, with many taking to social media to share memories and express their grief. Both teens were described as having bright futures ahead and were well-known in their circles for their kindness and good spirits.

“We are heartbroken,” said a family friend. “They were just kids. They didn’t deserve this.”
