GALVESTON, Texas — A devastating tragedy has shaken the Galveston community following the fatal shooting of 34-year-old Tiamoya Deshondra Moore on Thursday evening.

Police say they were called to the 5100 block of Avenue Q at 7:49 p.m., where officers found Moore suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported by Galveston EMS to the UTMB Emergency Room but was later pronounced dead.
According to investigators, witnesses at the scene identified Moore’s 16-year-old daughter, Niyah, as the suspected shooter. In a shocking turn, police reported that the teen returned to the scene while officers were still processing evidence. She was taken into custody on-site, and a firearm believed to be the weapon used in the shooting was recovered.
The juvenile is currently being held at the Jerry J. Esmond Juvenile Justice Center and faces a charge of murder. Authorities have not released further information about the events that led to the deadly incident, but the investigation remains ongoing.
Family members have described Moore as a loving daughter, mother, sister, and friend who brought warmth and light into the lives of those around her.
