It is with an extremely heavy heart that we share the devastating news of the passing of MKA Lifer Todd Morici, Jr. ’13. Todd died due to a skateboarding accident, an event that has left his family, friends, and the entire Montclair Kimberley Academy community in deep sorrow and disbelief.

His sudden and untimely passing has sent shockwaves through all who knew him, and the outpouring of love and support is a testament to the incredible impact he had on the lives of so many.

Todd was more than just a student; he was a vibrant spirit who brought joy, laughter, and light to those around him. As a “lifer” at MKA—someone who attended the school from the earliest grades all the way through graduation—Todd was a beloved and familiar presence throughout the years.

His infectious smile, his sense of humor, and his genuine kindness left a lasting impression on his classmates, teachers, coaches, and friends.

One of Todd’s closest friends and fellow member of the Class of 2013, Rob Pannullo, shared a moving tribute to Todd’s memory, saying, “Todd was a source of laughter and a smile to everyone he met — he was a jokester, a fantastic athlete, and an incredible friend who always wanted to help other people.”

These words perfectly capture the essence of who Todd was: someone who could light up a room with his personality, someone who made others feel seen and heard, and someone who always extended a hand to those in need.

In keeping with Todd’s selfless and generous nature, his legacy will live on in the most meaningful way imaginable. Todd was an organ donor, and in the wake of this unimaginable loss, his final act of compassion will save the lives of at least eight people who were in desperate need of those life-saving transplants.

Todd, even in his final moments, was thinking of others. He will leave this world as a hero, and his legacy of kindness and care will continue to ripple through the lives of the individuals he helped—and everyone who knew him.

Todd’s mother has graciously asked that we share the arrangements for those who wish to honor his memory and celebrate his life:

  • Sunday, April 13th, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.: A visitation will be held at Marrocco Memorial Chapel, located at 470 Colfax Avenue in Clifton, NJ.
  • Monday, April 14th, at 10:00 a.m.: A funeral mass will take place at Saint Philip the Apostle Parish, located at 797 Valley Road, also in Clifton. The funeral and repast will follow.

All those who knew and loved Todd are invited to attend, to pay their respects, to share memories, and to support one another in this time of grief. We are keeping Todd and his family, especially his mother and loved ones, in our thoughts and prayers during this heartbreaking time.

The loss of someone so young, so full of life and promise, is beyond comprehension. And yet, in the face of such sorrow, we are reminded of the deep bonds of community, friendship, and love that Todd nurtured in his time with us.

May his memory be a blessing, and may we all carry forward the joy, laughter, and generosity he gave so freely to the world. Rest in peace, Todd Morici, Jr. You will never be forgotten.
