MADERA, Calif. — A Madera man is behind bars after being arrested on a series of serious charges involving alleged sexual misconduct with minors and solicitation of prostitution, authorities confirmed.
According to the Madera County Sheriff’s Office, 35-year-old Jesus Cortes-Padilla was taken into custody Tuesday following an extensive investigation prompted by reports from two individuals who alleged they had been molested by him.

As detectives delved deeper into the case, additional victims—both juveniles and adults—came forward, reporting incidents ranging from sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior to offers of money in exchange for sexual favors.
Cortes-Padilla was booked into the Madera County Jail and is being held without bail. Authorities say he faces multiple charges, including attempted lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14, molestation of a minor under 18, and solicitation of prostitution.
“We believe Jesus Cortes-Padilla may have victimized more individuals within our community,” said Madera County Sheriff Tyson Pogue. “Our detectives have worked tirelessly on this case and have identified a troubling pattern of behavior. He appears to target vulnerable young women and girls with promises of money, often making them feel afraid to come forward due to fear of retaliation or self-incrimination.”
The sheriff’s office is now urging anyone who may have had contact with Cortes-Padilla—or who may have information about potential victims—to come forward. Investigators emphasize that their goal is to provide support to survivors and pursue justice on their behalf.
