“Why do you want to kill me? I need help!”: 911 call reveal details in Johnston County murder-suicide that left couple Christopher Pugh and Teresa Adams-Pugh dead

Johnston County authorities are investigating a suspected murder-suicide after a husband and wife were found dead inside their home on Chaney Drive, near Cornwallis Road, on Saturday night.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office has identified the deceased as Christopher Pugh, 53, and Teresa Adams-Pugh, 54. Deputies discovered their bodies around 11 p.m. after securing a search warrant and entering the residence.

Disturbing 911 Call Precedes Tragedy

The investigation began when a woman called 911 at approximately 6:45 p.m. but abruptly hung up, according to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office. Dispatchers called the number back, and a man answered, denying that a call had been made. In the background, a woman’s voice could be heard pleading for help, saying, “Why do you want to kill me? I need help.”

Following this alarming call, deputies were immediately dispatched to the residence. Upon arrival, authorities reported hearing a gunshot from inside the home.

Tense Standoff and Tactical Response

Law enforcement attempted to establish communication with the man inside the house. According to deputies, he briefly answered a subsequent 911 call and agreed to come outside and speak with officers. However, he never exited the home.

As a precaution, a large tactical response was deployed, including dozens of deputies and an armored vehicle. Negotiators attempted to contact the man, but there was no response.

After several hours, authorities obtained a search warrant and entered the home shortly after 11 p.m., where they discovered both individuals deceased.

Investigation Ongoing

Authorities are treating the case as a murder-suicide, though no additional details have been released regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident.
