WILLIMANTIC, Conn. — Authorities in Willimantic are investigating a shooting that took place late Monday night at Blarney’s Café, leaving one man injured.
Incident Details
Police responded to 49 High Street around 10:30 p.m. following reports of gunfire in the bar’s patio area. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a man had been grazed by a bullet on his arm. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and is expected to recover, according to police.
Following the shooting, both the suspect(s) and bar patrons immediately fled the scene, authorities reported.
Investigation Underway
Preliminary findings suggest that the shooting was an isolated incident, stemming from a heated argument. Investigators do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the community.
Although Eastern Connecticut State University is located near the scene, the school confirmed that no students were involved in the incident. The university advised its campus community to avoid the area, though most students are away for spring break.
Police continue to search for any additional victims or witnesses who may have been involved.
